A New Day for the United States of America

Wednesday, November 05, 2008

Last night just might go down as one of the best nights of my life. What a moment in history, and we were there. I heard an African-American boy say, when interviewed after a mock election at his elementary school, that he voted for Barack Obama because he wanted to tell his kids one day that he was there when the first African-American was voted in as President of the United States. Today I am hopeful, a feeling I'm not quite sure I've ever experienced in its purest form when it comes to politics. I really feel that today is the dawn of a new day for this country and for the world. I am proud of my country today, and proud to say that we elected Barack Obama as President of the United States!

I thought of you last night--was that just AMAZING or what? I just sat there with tears running down my face. I felt so hopeful, too. It was such an awesome night...and then we went to bed and Ray spilled grape juice all over our bed and carpet. Breathe breathe breathe. One day can't be all perfect, now can it? Ha. ---Stefanie
