Landon suggested we go for a short hike this morning with Samuel and Juniper, and even though I felt pretty tired, I decided it was just what I needed. It seemed like it took us a little longer than usual to get out the door, and by the time I had buckled Samuel into his carseat and put Juniper's carseat on its base, she was screaming. Samuel was in the mood to ask a lot of questions, and Landon was saying something, and, after a night of little sleep, I had had it. I adamantly declared (okay, maybe I yelled), "Absolutely no more talking until we get there!" The car was silent, Juniper somehow stopped crying, and I actually got what I wanted for the short car ride to Tryon State Park--silence! What's so amazing about nature is that as soon as I stepped out of the car once we arrived, all the stress washed away and the hike did wonders for all of us. Landon was able to carry Juniper for the first time in the Ergo, and I was able to spend some time with Samuel. Juniper seemed to love the hike, and was looking up at the trees until she finally fell asleep. Samuel, of course, is in a boy's paradise when on hikes--an abundance of sticks, creeks, bugs, and mud. How can you ask for more? Here are a few pictures from our short hike:
