Continued Illness

Wednesday, February 20, 2008
Samuel has had a rough winter this year with one cold after another. This last virus he caught has brought along with it a host of symptoms--everything from runny eyes to a body rash. He's been complaining of a sore neck throughout the course of this illness, and although his doctor checked him out last week and noted swollen lymph nodes, it wasn't until tonight when he awoke from a deep sleep crying out that I realized they had rapidly swelled up to the size of a golf ball on the left side of his neck. He could barely move his head, and was in a lot of discomfort. Not knowing what to do, I called the advice line at his doctor's office, and the doctor on-call suggested waiting until tomorrow morning to bring him in since he was still eating & drinking. I should also note that Samuel has had fevers that have come and gone over the past ten days. One hour he'll be fine, the next he'll spring a fever up to about 102F or 103F. Tonight he has a fever along w/ the protruding glands on his neck. I've never seen him this sick. Morning can't come fast enough. I'm worried and anxious, mostly because I've never seen this before. It's so sad to see him like this!
