Vitamin D and SAD

I'm starting to think I might have a case of seasonal affective disorder (SAD), due to a lack of Vitamin D. It's been a long January for me, and I am feeling antsy to get out in my garden or hop on my bike and feel the warm sun rays on my skin. We only had about 6 weeks of nice weather last summer. June was rainy, and then July and the first two weeks of August were sunny. We were actually lucky to catch a sunny weekend in October when we went to the pumpkin patch on Sauvie Island. Subsequently, my body hasn't had hardly any sun for a year now, and I'm starting to feel the affects of that. I just know I'll be invigerorated once the sun comes out, but in the meantime, what can I do to improve my spirits? I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that February will bring some sunshine with it. Samuel was born in February, 2005, and that year, it was bright and sunny during all of February and March. It was a wonderful time to have a baby! I'm looking forward to going on walks with Juniper once the grey cap over Portland fades away and gives way to blue sky and sun. Hey, my brain seratonin levels are increasing already just thinking about it!
