Happy New Year!

Monday, December 31, 2007

This year began and ended in very different ways. In January, I was all geared up for nursing & had started taking prerequisites at a local community college. I planned to be ready by fall to send out applications to several nursing schools in the area. Fast forward to December, 2007, and here I am with a newborn baby daughter. Never had it crossed my mind in January of this year that my life could take such a different (but wonderful) turn. I never thought I'd have a daughter. I always pictured myself with boys, especially after having Samuel. Juniper was a big surprise! I found out I was pregnant with her in a bathroom by the produce department in a local grocery store in Eastsound on Orcas Island (the largest of the San Juan islands). We were vacationing there during my spring break in March. Then, fast-forward to July 11th, when we found out we were having a healthy little girl--what an exciting day! Then, after going nearly two weeks over my due date, Juniper's waterbirth at home was amazing--absolutely no complications! The births of my two children--Samuel in early 2005 and Juniper in late 2007--cannot compare to anything else I have experienced in my life. I am so lucky to be their mother and watch them grow up. Nursing school will always be there, but these years with them I wouldn't trade for anything! Happy New Year and all the best to each of you in 2008! --Karli

You put it so well Karli!! There "is nothing" to compare with the birth of your children! and no matter what happens in life -- they are worth it!!
