Family Day

Sunday, July 01, 2007
Today was a lot of fun. We started out the morning with a family ride along the Willamette Greenway Trail down to the pedestrian crossover at the Morrison Bridge. We then rode along the east bank along the Esplanade until we hit the Springwater Corridor. Landon was telling me about a new bridge to be completed in 2013 called the Carruthers Bridge that will carry a new yellow MAX line and be used for pedestrians and bicyclists. Carruthers Street is near the Opera House by OMSI. The yellow MAX line would then go along McLaughlin and connect to Milwaukie, Gladstone, Oregon City, and possibly even Canby should Canby decide they want light rail. Pretty exciting! Perhaps real estate will start to pick up in some of those areas.

After our bike ride, we took naps, then headed to Wilson Pool for some family fun. Love their water slide! Their wading pool is great as well. There were many floating devices for kids to use. We had lots of fun, and hope to make this a recurring summer outing. Sellwood's pool looks like a lot of fun as well. We rode by on our bikes today, and hope to frequent that one as well.
