I am 8 weeks pregnant today. Here is an enlarged picture of an 8 week fetus. Compare this one with the one I posted at 5 weeks, and you will see the incredible developmental changes that have occurred over the past 3 weeks.

Landon and I just got back from our evening class on writing about film at PSU. It was a long class session tonight, and I'm glad to be home. However, I still have about 50 pages to read for tomorrow for American Indian Literature, so I need to get going on that. I will say before I go, though, that it is sad how little I knew of the culture of different Native American tribes, and the perpetual poor treatment of Native Americans. There are some great novels out now by different Native American authors that are presenting many of the current issues Native Americans deal with on the reservations. One author is Sherman Alexie, and the author I am reading now is LeAnne Howe and her novel Shell Shaker. Also, if you get the chance, rent the film "Smoke Signals." It is an excellent representation of the hope that exists within a hopeless environment and the power of imagination when all else seems impossible.

Cool fetus pix! I hope you keep posting them, this is a good way to learn about the baby and its basket.

Due to the small size and zoom lenses of today’s digital cameras we are able to get these pictures with only minor discomfort to Karli. Or did I already make this joke?
